YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our project execution team for large-scale utility solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and substation projects. This role is critical in ensuring design integrity, construction quality, and adherence to engineering standards from initial execution through project closeout. The Civil Engineer will work closely with design teams, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure successful delivery of all civil and mechanical scope elements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Prepare site constraints maps based on project entitlement and technical documents such as land surveys, hydrology/hydraulics reports, environmental constraints, geotechnical limitations, and client requests.

  • Review project technical documents including geotechnical reports, environmental reports, ALTA and topo surveys, hydrology reports, etc. and document trouble areas for review by project stakeholders.

  • Assist in the preparation of civil construction as-built drawings and project close out deliverables.

  • Conduct site visits to perform observations of ongoing construction of PV, Substation and BESS systems for general conformance with construction documents.

  • Construction Oversight - Monitor and verify that civil and mechanical subcontractors are executing work in full compliance with approved plans, specifications, and engineering standards.

  • Design Oversight - Provide technical review and feedback during execution to maintain design intent and identify potential constructability issues.

  • As-Built Verification - Confirm accuracy of as-built documentation by performing plan-to-field overlays and coordinating with survey teams.

  • Boundary Verification - Confirm and vet project boundaries through document review, field verification, and coordination with surveyors and design teams.

  • Topographic and Grade Verification - Review and validate topographic surveys, existing grades (EG), finished grades (FG), and top-of-post designs/elevations to ensure accuracy prior to and during construction.

  • Stakeholder Coordination - Collaborate with internal engineering, project management, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies between design and field conditions.

  • Quality Control - Support field quality inspections and testing to verify compliance with civil design standards.

  • Documentation & Reporting - Maintain detailed project records, progress updates, and technical reports for project leadership and client review.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong knowledge of site grading, drainage, foundations, and utility layouts.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and validate civil and mechanical design drawings.

  • Strong understanding of survey control, topographic data, and elevation benchmarks.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

  • Working knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics and calculations for stormwater.

  • Understanding of grading design for drainage, earthwork, and system grading criteria.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Proficiency with CAD, Civil 3D, and survey data review.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • QGIS or ArcGIS Pro experience.

  • Experience with industry typical stormwater software such as HydroCAD or similar software.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.

  • Detail-oriented, curious, resourceful, and proactive.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other similar discipline.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in utility-scale solar, BESS, substation, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

TRAVEL:

  • Up to 50%

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning

  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Pay Range

$117,600.00-$154,400.00 Annual

The pay range for this role is what we expect to pay for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Candidate's pay can vary based on location, job-related experience, skills, and education.
