YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

Designer II - EPC is a mid-level designer responsible for creating marked drawings, model development, and other documents showing photovoltaic (PV), distributive generation (DG), battery energy storage systems (BESS), or medium voltage (MV) equipment and device layouts and branch circulation for power, lighting, and auxiliary drawings. In addition, this position provides calculations and documentation for the design of lighting and power systems, as well as details as required to define and clarify the intent of the design on drawings. This position requires moderate dotted-line supervision by a Designer III, an Engineer, the Engineer of Record, the Engineering Team Lead, or the Director of Engineering.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Assemble a complete symbols list and common project notes from the REI Standard relevant to the project with moderate supervision.

  • Mark up and model PV, DG, BESS, and/or MV power plans and fill in panelboard and feeder schedules with moderate supervision.

  • Apply and perform Rosendin standards for wire sizing, transformer feeders, and protection from published schedules and other site-specific design documents.

  • Calculate illumination levels and layout fixtures at the direction of an Engineer or Senior Designer.

  • Calculate power loads, size feeders, size protection, and determine the estimated demand load summary for a distribution system under the direction of a Sr. Designer or an Engineer.

  • Direct and coordinate with project team, field team, subcontractors with other trades, such as civil, structural, and within electrical.

  • Create details as required to define installation for construction.

  • Ability to review manufacturer submittals for electrical characteristics under supervision.

  • Layout electrical equipment, including clearances, with minimal oversight.

  • Layout PV arrays, MV, BESS, and/or site lighting for site plans under supervision.

  • The duties and responsibilities describe this position's general nature and scope of work. This is a partial listing, and other responsibilities will be assigned based on the position's role within the business unit.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Calculate illumination levels and provide layouts based on the results of the calculations and complete energy compliance docs for inclusion on drawings

  • Knowledge of load summary and power calculations is required.

  • Has a working knowledge of feeder sizing but may only be able to complete engineering calculations with assistance.

  • Develop a complete set of design documents with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to provide direction to other designers on a project.

  • Effective fieldwork and surveying skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Chat, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Illuminance software, Autodesk Revit, Civil3D, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Google Earth

  • Manage multiple tasks according to the supervisor's direction.

  • Work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements positively.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.

  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:

  • Some college or technical training in engineering or a related discipline

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Designer

  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

TRAVEL:

  • Up to 15% (Does not include local field visits)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning

  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.

Pay Range

$36.05-$47.50 Hourly

The pay range for this role is what we expect to pay for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Candidate's pay can vary based on location, job-related experience, skills, and education.
