The BIM Coordinator I is responsible for coordination efforts for both project coordination and REI coordination standards.
Participates as a member of the coordination team that works with field supervisors and project managers on field integration with BIM.
Effectively coordinates electrical systems in the project.
Work with the Lead Modeler in developing required model intelligence either for the revised standards or for a specific project's needs.
Attend coordination meetings.
Detail all coordination changes utilizing available tools.
Review project BIM requirements.
Work with field on installation drawing schedule creation.
Document and report any changes that may have cost or schedule impact to Project Manager.
Review all installation drawings prior to issuance to field.
Review any change orders, DRB's etc. for schedule or cost impact.
Review model exports for constructability.
Documents and archives work pursuant with the REI standard.
Upload required files to project site.
Back-check own work for accuracy before passing on to others.
Prepare copies and help make sets of documents for transmittal to other parties.
Download drawings and information from the Web, SharePoint or project websites (FTP, etc.)

The Field Engineer - Substation Commissioning provides on-site technical oversight for construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage substation equipment on EPC projects. This role serves as the field liaison between engineering design teams, construction crews, subcontractors, and utility clients. The Field Engineer ensures that field installation aligns with drawings, specifications, and project standards while coordinating activities, resolving technical issues, and supporting construction sequencing to maintain schedule.
Interpret design packages and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards
Coordinate field activities and resolve technical issues to maintain project schedule
Execute commissioning plans and procedures for breakers, transformers, protection systems, SCADA, and communications equipment
Perform functional testing, point-to-point verification, logic checks, and support energization sequencing
Verify installation quality and enforce QA/QC standards
Oversee wiring, labeling, equipment placement, and system integration
Maintain documentation including test reports, redlines, punch lists, as-builts, and turnover deliverables
Identify and mitigate field risks related to safety, design conflicts, schedule, and constructability
Support client walk-downs, acceptance milestones, audits, and turnover processes
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, industry regulations, and site-specific requirements
Strong knowledge of substation construction methods, high-voltage equipment, and protection/control systems
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications
Experience with commissioning activities including functional tests and relay logic validation
Troubleshooting skills for wiring issues, equipment failures, and SCADA/communications problems
Proficiency with test equipment such as OMICRON, Doble, Megger, or equivalent
Effective communication with construction crews, project managers, engineering staff, and clients
Competence in managing documentation, redlines, test reports, and turnover packages
Ability to work under schedule pressure while maintaining a strong safety culture
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5-7+ years of experience supporting EPC or utility substation projects
Experience with commissioning and protection/control preferred
Familiarity with EPC project processes, including RFIs, submittals, QA/QC workflows, and turnover requirements
Safety certifications or recognized industry credentials (NETA, IEEE, etc.) are advantageous
Frequent travel to regional or national project sites required. Extended site rotations may be necessary depending on construction and commissioning schedules. Work hours may vary significantly based on project milestones, energization deadlines, or utility outage windows.
Work performed primarily at high-voltage substation construction sites, often in outdoor environments. Exposure to weather, heavy equipment, loud noise, and energized electrical systems. Must observe all safety protocols, including PPE requirements, energized-work boundaries, LOTO procedures, and OSHA/NESC standards. Physical demands may include standing, climbing, lifting, and working at heights or in confined spaces. Field work, tight schedules, and critical outage windows may require nights, weekends, and overtime.
